First Batch of Enterprises Approved for Environmental Protection Review Released

SHANGHAI, Jan. 15 (SMM) – The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) released on its website the first batch of lead-acid battery and secondary lead enterprises which are confirmed complying with environmental protection laws and regulations.

A total of 12 enterprises with polar plate processing and lead-acid battery assembly capacity hitting 37.12 million kvah, including Chaowei Power, Tianneng Power, and Camel Group, have been approved by the environmental protection review. But no secondary lead enterprises were listed.

SMM statistics show that there are 412 lead-acid battery producers and 20 secondary lead enterprises now in operation across the nation.

These enterprises approved by the MEP should submit applications to Provincial Industry & Information Technology Bureaus so as to obtain the qualification for entering the industry, and local governments will undertake preliminary reviews, the results of which will be reported to the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology.
