SHANGHAI, Jun. 13 (SMM) – Johnson Control will join hands with Beijing Automotive Group’s Shandong Binzhou Bohai Piston to build a ignition battery plant in Shandong’s Binzhou, caam.org.cn reported.
Construction of the plant will start in 2017 and the plant will be commissioned in 2019 with battery capacity scheduled to be 7.5 million units. Total investment for the new plant will be 200 million yuan ($ 30.38 million) and the plant will offer 650 jobs after entering into full operation. Main products from the plant will be AGM batteries, which are applied to auto start-stop system. The system will increase fuel efficiency by 5%.
About 15 million units of new autos will be equipped with start-stop system, accounting for 50% of total new autos. This will reduce fuel consumption by 1.2 billion litres and greenhouse gas emissions by 2.8 million mt.
