SMM12, 20 Feb: Kobe Steel plans to double the capacity of the Kentucky aluminum extrusion plant in the first half of 2020 due to the support of car demand, Japan Aluminium Rolling Steel said on Wednesday. With the installation of new furnaces and extruders, Kobelco aluminum products and extruders will be expanded from the current 500t / month to 1000 t / month. The company will invest $42 million in expansion. The company was founded in 2016 to produce bumpers and frames. Comprehensive aluminum extrusion production, involving the melting of aluminum raw materials to the final processing stage, only began last month.
Kobe Steel's net profit rose 20 per cent in the first half of 2018 and will pay an interim dividend. But steelmakers are threatened by trade disputes, even as Posco's profits soar.
Kobe Steel's steel division accounts for 37% of total sales, of which 19% come from aluminum, copper, construction, machinery and other sectors.
