Tianjin launches second-highest smog alert on Feb 28

SHANGHAI, Feb 28 (SMM) – North China's Tianjin Municipality issued an orange alert for air pollution effective from Thursday February 28, the city’s environmental protection bureau said on Wednesday February 27. 

The second-highest smog alert in a four-tier warning system indicates a predicted air quality index (AQI) over 200 for three consecutive days.

From Thursday, manufactures in the city will be ordered to cut emissions and half of all medium- and heavy-duty trucks will be required to stay off the roads.
