Apple leads the trend of display screen mini LED products are gradually unveiled

As the pace of Apple's 2021 developer conference is approaching, news of new products is coming out frequently, and the slightest hint of change can attract the attention of the industry. One of the key concerns of the industry is the screens of new products.

Apple plans to launch new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models in the second half of this year, both of which will have mini LED displays, while Osram Optoelectronic Semiconductors has become a new supplier of Apple's mini LED, Taiwanese media reported today.

In the new iPad Pro released in April, the most high-end 12.9in iPad Pro uses mini LED technology for the first time. As an industry giant, Apple's move to add mini LED again is expected to encourage other terminal manufacturers to invest more in the technology.

Mini LED enters the first year of Business

According to the data, mini LED technology is generally used in mobile phones, tablets, televisions, car displays and other products. In fact, it is the upgrade of LED and LCD technology, which conforms to the demand direction of higher resolution, thinning and high dynamic of LED. The superimposed large-scale mass production reduces its comprehensive cost, and the micro LED technology is not yet mature., mini LED technology is "just the right time".

Now, the "big brother" of the industry takes the lead in putting it into practice, and institutions are also optimistic about the future development of mini LED.

Galaxy Securities and Tianfeng Securities said that as the head enterprises have laid out the track one after another, the increasingly mature industrial chain, mini LED is expected to lead the next upgrading trend of LED technology and become a new growth point in the domestic LED market.

On the demand side, TrendForce estimates that global shipments of mini LED backlit TVs will reach 26-3 million units in 2021.

Citic Securities pointed out that Apple iPad Pro is equipped with mini LED panels, superimposed by Samsung, TCL and other manufacturers have released mini LED high-end TVs. 2021 has become the first year for commercial use of mini LED technology, and is optimistic about its future development and boost to the industrial chain.

Carding of domestic industrial chain

The head Leopard Research Institute believes that the domestic mini LED development foundation is good, upstream and downstream enterprises have actively laid out related research and development, with a certain degree of international competitiveness. Under the increase of leading manufacturers, the concentration of the industry is expected to be further improved.

The Mini LED industry chain is mainly composed of upstream equipment, mid-stream chip and package / module, and downstream panel manufacturing.

Equipment side: China Micro Corporation has actively laid out the MOCVD equipment for mini LED, and the share of Xinyichang, the leader of solid crystal machine, in China has exceeded 70%.

Chip side: San'an Optoelectronics, Huacan Optoelectronics, Shilan Micro and Ming Microelectronics have achieved mass production, among which San'an Optoelectronics has entered the Samsung mini LED supply chain.

Package end: Zhaochi shares, National Star Optoelectronics, Mulinsen, Ruifeng Optoelectronics and other layout;

Panel end: Beijing Oriental, TCL Huaxing and Liad have become the leaders of the track.
