SHANGHAI, May 17 (SMM) – Offers of chemical-grade silicon dipped on Thursday May 17 as transactions were few, SMM learned.
Many organosilicon plants recently shut their facilities for maintenance, which slowed the consumption of raw materials. Many downstream consumers delayed their procurement and depleted on-hand inventories as they expected chemical-grade silicon supplies to grow in rainy season.
On Thursday May 17, #421 silicon traded at 14,500-14,700 yuan/mt at Huangpu port and at 14,600-14,800 yuan/mt at Tianjin port.
