SMM: from July to November 2020, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Public Security and the Supreme people's Procuratorate jointly organized nationwide activities to crack down on environmental crimes of hazardous waste in order to curb the frequent occurrence of cases of illegal discharge, dumping and disposal of hazardous waste and ensure the health and safety of the people.

As of August 31, work has been carried out in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang production and Construction Corps. Various localities have extensively mobilized and deployed by formulating work plans and holding video work meetings, and in the light of the requirements of the activities and the actual local conditions, refine and supplement key industries, key areas, and key behaviors, strengthen cooperation and linkage between and within departments, strengthen work guidance, and extensively mobilize mass participation in the light of the existing reporting and reward system.

In order to summarize and refine the experiences and practices that are effective and can be used for reference, deeply analyze the key points and difficulties in the process of handling environmental crimes of hazardous wastes, and give full play to the exemplary and guiding role of typical cases, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment organized and collected six typical cases of cracking down on environmental crimes committed by hazardous wastes. In these typical cases, the relevant government departments promptly inform the clues and effectively control the spread of pollution; the public security organs intervene in front to fix the evidence and control the suspects in time; the procuratorial organs participate in the consultation and guide the investigation to ensure that the case-handling procedures and evidence meet the litigation standards of criminal cases; the ecological and environmental departments conduct scientific research and careful screening to effectively trace the sources of waste dumping; Environmental law enforcement personnel are highly vigilant and responsible, find clues to problems in detail, apply laws accurately, standardize evidence collection records, ensure that procedures are legal, implement rewards for reports, respond to public concerns in a timely manner, and consolidate the mass foundation for cracking down on environmental crimes committed by hazardous wastes.

The Ministry of Ecological Environment praised Wuqing District Ecological Environment Bureau of Tianjin, Zhangjiagang Ecological Environment Bureau of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, Cangnan Branch of Wenzhou Ecological Environment Bureau of Zhejiang Province, Yizhou Ecological Environment Bureau of Hechi City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region, and Changshou District Ecological Environment Bureau of Chongqing.
