SHANGHAI, Apr. 17 (SMM) - Mexican mining exploration industry only attracted $483 million of investment in 2016, a fall of 8.5% on a yearly basis, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Investment in the industry fell for the fourth straight year, which peaked at $1.092 billion in 2011.
Camimex reported the mining industry accounts for 3% of gross domestic product and 9.1% of domestic industry production value.
The country now has 1,158 mines under exploration.
