SMM, Sept. 29: after more than a year of evaluation, the Chilean Environmental Administration has approved the development of the largest desalination plant in Latin America, with an initial investment of about US $500 million. Trends Industrial's ENAPAC project will provide desalinated seawater to industrial users in the Atacama Desert and mining areas in the north of the country, with a capacity to process up to 2630 litres per second.
The ENAPAC project is part of a list of projects established by the Chilean Ministry of economy to help promote large investment projects while the Government is working to promote economic growth.
