SHANGHAI, Apr 3 (SMM) – Exporters continued to lower prices of silicon given weak demand overseas, SMM learned. Silicon prices also extended their declines in the domestic market.
The non-oxygen #553 silicon mostly traded around 12,300 yuan/mt in Kunming on Tuesday April 3, compared with 12,550 yuan/mt the previous day.
Overseas demand has been sluggish as buyers turned cautious amid negative economic sentiment. As investors were pessimistic, enquiries for non-oxygen #553 silicon were received below $1,900/mt fob, down from $1,950/mt a week before.
