SHANGHAI, Aug. 30 (SMM) –
Lead Concentrate
According to data from CNIA, China’s output of lead concentrate in July was 164kt, down 14.73% MoM, and with YTD output 989kt, up 50.59% YoY. With steady increases of imported lead concentrate reported during June and July, output of domestic lead concentrate began to fall during July, creating difficulties to purchase domestic lead concentrate.
Refined Lead Supply
According to data from CNIA, China’s output of refined lead in July was 363kt, up 7.08% MoM, and with YTD output 2.16 million mt, up 6.87% YoY. The July output included 243kt of primary lead, which was close to the SMM survey amount of 240kt. Output from Jiangxi province was down steadily to the impact from heavy rains and flooding in that region. However, output during July from Henan and Hunan provinces was up significantly MoM, and in response to higher domestic spot lead prices, which rose to RMB 15,800/mt in July and allowed greater profits compared to May and June.
