SMM July 25 News:

In recent years, zinc mine and smelting capacity has expanded rapidly. To better understand changes in the zinc industry's supply-demand pattern and predict price trends, the SMM zinc research team has meticulously developed an upstream inventory system. This system covers multiple critical aspects, including zinc ore inventory, zinc smelting raw material inventory, and zinc ingot finished product inventory, providing industry participants with a more comprehensive and precise inventory monitoring framework.

I. Upstream Inventory System:

1. Port Zinc Concentrate Inventory: SMM currently possesses inventory data from seven major domestic ports, including Lianyungang, Fangchenggang, Jinzhou Port, Huangpu Port, Qinzhou Port, Huludao Port, and Nanjing Port.

2. Days of Smelter Raw Material Inventories = Days of raw material inventories per smelter × sample capacity weight.

3. Days of Smelter Finished Product Inventories = Smelter's monthly finished product inventory / next month's production × number of days in the month.

II. Significance of the Upstream Inventory System:

1. Zinc Miners: Adjust sales strategies based on smelters' raw material inventory levels to reduce the risk of inventory buildup.

2. Zinc Smelters: Accurately assess zinc ore raw material supply conditions, predict future TC trends, optimize their inventory structure, and improve capital turnover efficiency.

3. Zinc Ingot Traders: Track upstream inventory data over the long term, keenly identify price fluctuation opportunities, and flexibly formulate trading and operational strategies.

4. Zinc Downstream Enterprises: Monitor changes in zinc ingot supply levels and adjust their raw material procurement pace accordingly.

5. Investment Institutions: Conduct in-depth analysis of the correlation between inventory cycles and zinc prices to uncover investment opportunities.

III. Inventory Cycle Index: Release Schedule

Weekly updates (zinc concentrate inventory every Friday, zinc ingot finished product inventory every Thursday).

Monthly updates (on the last working day of each month).
