SHANGHAI, May 30 (SMM) – Customs data showed that China exported 228,000 mt of aluminium plate/sheet and strip in April, down 8.56% MoM and 30.7% YoY.
Mexico, South Korea and Thailand remained the major export destinations. Exports to the top five destinations accounted for 41.2% of the total exports, basically unchanged from March.
Covid-induced factory closures overseas boosted China’s aluminium plate/sheet and strip exports earlier, but this positive impact has faded after overseas production resumed. This, combined with cooling global economy, caused China’s aluminium plate/sheet and strip exports to keep falling since the second half of 2022. SMM expects that the monthly exports will remain low between 200,000-250,000 mt in the future.
