Polysilicon prices continued to fall sharply last week. As of May 19, the mainstream prices of recharging polysilicon and dense polysilicon were 135-143 yuan/kg and 133-140 yuan/kg respectively. The polysilicon price index stood at 127.75 yuan/kg. Polysilicon prices continued to fall early last week.
Under the price war for silicon wafers, the price of polysilicon fell rapidly. The basis for pricing mode was changed from monthly to weekly, and market panic increased.
As leading companies such as Daqo and Tongwei raised prices, the prices began to stabilise. However, it should be noted that the current polysilicon inventory pressure still exists and silicon wafer plants plan to cut output. Polysilicon prices still have the risk of falling.
