Profit recovery drove up operating rates of EF steel mills

As of November 7, the operating rates of 34 EF steel mills that mainly produced construction steel were up 4.35 percentage points WoW at 46.38% as profits recovered significantly amid strong finished steel prices. SMM predicted that the operating rates of EFs will be stable-to-higher, boosted by optimistic sale/production status and profits.

[SMM Daily HRC Trading] On March 27, the total daily HRC trading volume of sample enterprises in four cities tracked by SMM (Shanghai, Lecong, Tianjin, and Ningbo) was 14,490 mt, up 360 mt day on day, or 2.5%, with solar-calendar YoY growth of 28.57% and lunar-calendar YoY growth of 9.77%.
