Global Iron Ore Shipments Fell 3% Week-on-Week to 29.57 Million mt during October 10-16

SHANGHAI, Oct 17 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 29.57 million mt in the week ending October 16, a drop of 3% week-on-week.

SHANGHAI, Oct 17 (SMM) - SMM statistics showed that the global iron ore shipments totalled 29.57 million mt in the week ending October 16, a drop of 3% week-on-week. The shipments from Australia rose 2.9% on a weekly basis to 18.22 million mt, of which 15.29 million mt or 83.9% went to China, an increase of 15.2%. The shipments from Brazil fell 23.1% on a weekly basis to 5.72 million mt, of which 3.29 million mt or 57.5% went to China, a decrease of 3.8%.

The four major mining companies shipped a combined 22.29 million mt of iron ore last week, a drop of 1.09 million mt from a week earlier.


A total of 23.11 million mt of iron ore arrived at Chinese ports last week, down 1.3% week-on-week.
