The Arrivals of Cobalt-Based Raw Materials at Ports Rose Sharply in July, and Are Expected to Be Stable in August

SHANGHAI, Sep 14 (SMM) - According to lastest update of General Administration of Customs, China imported 10,000 mt of cobalt-based raw materials in metal content in July, up 42% MoM and 37% YoY.

SHANGHAI, Sep 14 (SMM) - According to lastest update of General Administration of Customs, China imported 10,000 mt of cobalt-based raw materials in metal content in July, up 42% MoM and 37% YoY. 

In detail, China imported 136 mt in metal content (converted to 8% grade) of cobalt ore in July, down 32% MoM and 2% YoY.

Imports of cobalt hydrometallurgy intermediate products were 9,600 mt in metal content (converted to 30% grade), up 48% MoM and 43% YoY.

Imports of unwrought cobalt were 339 mt in metal content in March (converted to 99.8% grade), up 57% MoM and down 20% YoY.

The average import price of cobalt hydrometallurgy intermediate products was $61,405/mt (Co content) in July 2022, down 25% MoM. 

Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Guangdong are the top three importing regions. And it is worth noting that the imports by Jiangxi surged 243% MoM, the largest increase among all, while the TOP5 importing regions all recorded a MoM growth in import volume.
