SMM survey: what kind of metal do you like most in 2022?
According to the latest data released by South Korean research firm SNE Research, the total battery use of registered electric vehicles worldwide reached 250.8 GWH from January to November this year, an increase of 112.1% over the same period last year. Among them, the battery usage of electric vehicles registered worldwide in November was 33GWH, an increase of 81.4% over the same period last year.
From the comparison of the table, from January to November, the total market share of the installed capacity of Chinese power battery enterprises further expanded, with the six Chinese companies in the top 10 alone reaching 48.1%. The overall market share of South Korean enterprises fell again, with the market share of LG New Energy, SK On and Samsung SDI falling to 30.8%. Japan's Panasonic continued to fall to 12.5%.
At the same time, from January to November, the installed capacity of Chinese power battery enterprises continued to maintain high growth, Ningde era firmly ranked first with 79.8GWh, BYD ranked fourth with a year-on-year growth rate of nearly two times, China New Airlines, Guoxuan Hi-Tech and Vision Power remained unchanged, ranking 7th, 8th and 9th respectively, and Yiwei Lithium ranked 10th with 2.7GWh. Among them, in November this year, Chinese power battery companies led the market growth, in the global total installed capacity of 33GWh, China's top six led by Ningde era occupied 18.1GWh.
From January to November, except for the year-on-year growth rate of SK On in South Korea's three major power battery companies, LG New Energy and Samsung SDI both showed double-digit growth, while Panasonic, a Japanese power battery head company, grew relatively slowly, only 36.5%.
In addition, SNE Research analysis, despite the cell crisis, the global electric vehicle battery market still maintained growth for the 17th month in a row.
Judging from the current trend, SNE Research predicts that Ningde Times, LG New Energy, Panasonic and BYD are expected to continue to rank first to fourth in 2021, while Samsung SDI is expected to catch up with SK On. Considering the gap of the installed capacity of the top six enterprises, the cumulative, SNE Research analysis is not likely to change the ranking.
From the domestic point of view, according to the data released by the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, from January to November, the total number of power batteries installed in China totaled 128.3 GWH, an increase of 153.1% over the same period last year. Among them, the top 10 enterprises installed 118.1 GWH power batteries, accounting for 92.0% of the total installed capacity, namely: Ningde Times, BYD, AVIC (AVIC Lithium), Guoxuan Hi-Tech, LG New Energy, Honeycomb Energy, Yiwei Lithium Energy, Tafel New Energy, Funeng Technology, Xinwanda.
What is noteworthy is that under the background of constantly refreshing market expectations in the production and marketing of new energy vehicles, China's power battery head enterprises continue to announce production expansion plans. According to the latest statistics of Battery Network in December, Ningde Times, BYD, Yiwei Lithium Energy, China New Airlines, Xinwanda, Honeycomb Energy, Guoxuan Hi-Tech, Funeng Technology, Jiewei Power, Tafel New Energy domestic power battery competitiveness TOP10 enterprise planning capacity has exceeded 2.77TWh.
At the Entrepreneur Summit on how to solve the supply chain Security Dilemma of Lithium Battery Industry held on December 28th, Wu Hui, General Manager of the Research Department of Yiwei Economic Research Institute and President of China Battery Industry Research Institute, judged that thanks to the expected improvement of the downstream demand market, the global power battery demand will reach 1268.4 GWH in 2025, and the global power battery demand will reach 3083.5GWh in 2030. At the same time, Wu Hui stressed: "because the market development is higher than expected, the above forecast data show a continuous upward trend."
