China’s Exports of Aluminium Wheel Remained Low in Nov, Likely to Rebound in Dec

SHANGHAI, Dec 24 (SMM) – According to customs data, China's aluminium wheel exports in November 2021 were 67,300 mt, a decrease of 25.29% month-on-month but up 2.92% year-on-year.

The major export provinces were Zhejiang (28.4), Jiangsu (21.42%), Hebei (17.58%), and Shandong (10.14%). The exports volume of various provinces changed little on the month. The exports from Jiangsu dropped 2,200 mt, while that from Shandong increased 1,500 mt. The exports from various provinces in October and November were all lower than that in September.

The top five importers of China’s aluminium wheel were US (22,800 mt), Japan (17,300 mt), Korea (3,800 mt), Mexico (4,300 mt), and Thailand (3,400 mt). Only Korea saw the increase in the imports from China, and the imports of the other four countries all fell. Mexico, which was in third place in the past, fell to the fourth, but its import volume from China only decreased by 800 mt from October.

China’s exports of aluminium wheels stood low in November mainly because the production in September was suppressed by the fiercely volatile prices of silicon and magnesium.

The Silicon and magnesium prices stabilised in October-November, which drove up the production of aluminium alloy and wheel plants, and the overseas customers were more willing to accept the higher conversion margins.

Therefore, China’s exports of aluminium wheel may rebound in October.
