China's steel exports down 27% in Q1

China exported 5.65 million mt of finished steel in March, up from 4.85 million mt in February, according to China Customs.

SHANGHAI, Apr 13 (SMM) – China exported 5.65 million mt of finished steel in March, up from 4.85 million mt in February, according to Chinese Customs.

This brought the country’s finished steel exports to 15.15 million mt in the first quarter of this year, down 26.9% from the same period last year.

Separately, China imported 85.79 million mt of iron ore last month, and 270.4 million mt in the March quarter. The Q1 imports were down a slight 0.2% from the March 2017 quarter.
