The first car is expected to be offline and mass produced in 2024.

A reporter from Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily learned that after nearly 30 years of development and construction, the Beijing Economic Development Zone has formed a sophisticated industrial development pattern based on the four leading industries of new generation information technology, high-end cars and new energy smart cars, biotechnology and great health, robots and intelligent manufacturing, as well as emerging industries.
At present, Beijing Economic Development Zone has laid out complete vehicle enterprises such as Beijing Mercedes-Benz and BAIC New Energy, built state-level technological innovation centers such as the National Chuangchuang Center and the National Automobile Intelligence Alliance, and built high-level self-driving demonstration zones.
In the first three quarters of this year, the Economic Development District of Beijing achieved a GDP of 193.48 billion yuan, an increase of 38.8 percent over the same period last year, a total industrial output value of 424.36 billion yuan, an increase of 32 percent, and a total industrial output value of 403.74 billion yuan for the four leading industries, an increase of 33.0 percent over the same period last year. According to Guojin Securities statistics, as of the end of September this year, Xiaomi investment layout of a total of 62 enterprises in the field of smart cars. Among them, there are 17 enterprises of intelligent driving layout, 13 enterprises of intelligent electric layout and 6 enterprises of intelligent cockpit layout. Of these, 22 enterprises have made new investments this year.
Among them, in terms of autopilot, Xiaomi acquired deep motion technology, a self-driving company, and invested in ADS (autopilot system), ADAS (advanced driving assistance system) technology and product supplier Zongmu technology, domestic lidar start-up Wesai technology, and Shanghai geometric partners who can provide L2-L4-level autopilot "integrated perception + intelligent decision-making" software and hardware integration system for car companies.
In terms of power batteries, Xiaomi has invested in Zhuhai Guanyu, Ganfeng lithium industry, honeycomb energy, AVIC lithium battery and so on.
In terms of chips, Xiaomi has invested in BYD Semiconductor, Zhanxin Electronics, Canxin Semiconductor, Yutai Microelectronics, Jucore Microelectronics, Yunying Valley Technology and so on.
In terms of talent introduction, on September 1 this year, Lei Jun, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, released a group photo of 17 people, which is also regarded by industry insiders as "the core members of Xiaomi car", including Li Tianyuan, the designer of BMW's flagship iX; on Sept. 7, Hu Zhengnan, former director of Geely Research Institute, joined Shunwei Capital as an investment partner. In October, Yu Liguo, former president of Polar Fox, was revealed to have joined Xiaomi Group.
In this regard, an expert from the Leopard Research Institute told Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily that "capital and technical requirements are two major problems in car construction, and win-win cooperation is the king." Technology companies have the technology and capital to accumulate, but it takes too much manpower, money and time to build cars from scratch. Therefore, to achieve win-win cooperation is a more reasonable way for technology companies to enter the automotive field. "
At the same time, the research of Guojin Securities believes that the deficiency of Xiaomi's next car construction lies in the lack of vehicle platform design and manufacturing capacity and the lack of self-driving related automobile technology accumulation.
