Baosteel’s New Steel Base to Put Capacity of 4.7 Million mt/year into Full Production

SHANGHAI, Nov 29 (SMM) – Baosteel Desheng, a subsidiary of China Baowu Iron and Steel Group, invested 13.6 billion yuan to build a fine stainless steel green industry base in 2018, and the project will be fully put into operation next year.

In this context, Baosteel Desheng will have the annual production capacity of 4.7 million mt, and the annual output value will exceed 40 billion yuan. This project will also make up for the shortcomings in the existing production chain and cover the whole steel industry chain from the ores to stainless steel products.

It is reported that in recent years, Baosteel Desheng has moved towards the higher end of the value chain.

Wang Qiang, deputy secretary of the Baosteel Desheng Party Committee, said that the green industrial base mainly produces high-end stainless steel products such as 300 series, 400 series and fine special steel. The products will be applied in kitchen&bathroom, aerospace, home appliances, automobiles, etc, to create a higher-quality value chain and ecosystem.

In addition, on the basis of 304 series food-grade stainless steel products, Baosteel Desheng has developed "antibacterial steel" with good broad-spectrum sterilization properties and deodorizing functions.

According to the person in charge of Baosteel Desheng Technology R&D Center, "antibacterial steel" products have high added value and broad market prospects, and are expected to bring a new profit growth point to the company.
