Tangshan to Cut Steel Production by 30% for Better Air Quality in September

SHANGHAI, Sep 1 (SMM) – In order to further consolidate the results of air quality improvement, Tangshan will implement the following emission reduction measures during September 1-30, 2021.

In the steel industry, 19 steel companies in production will cut 30 % of the total production. Three companies will not reduce production, including Shougang Qian'an Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. and Shougang Jingtang United Iron and Steel that are graded A in emission performance, and HBIS Laoting Steel that have projects under production.

In the coking industry, the companies graded A in the emission performance will implement independent emission reduction. The coking time of the companies graded B should be no shorter than 28 hours, and that of the companies graded C and D should be no shorter than 32 hours. Wet quenching operations are fully prohibited, unless the dry quenching equipment is in maintenance or accident.
