SHANGHAI, Aug 1 (SMM) – All sintering machines, shaft furnaces and lime kilns in Tangshan, Hebei province were required, by city regulations, to cut production by half from August 1 to August 5. A new forecast for polluted weather kept sintering machines and shaft furnaces across mills in Tangshan, Hebei province, from returning to full operation after they suspended from July 27 to July 31., SMM learned.
Sintering machines and shaft furnaces can avoid production cuts if they have denitrification facilities and if their emission of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter does not exceed 35 mg/m³, 50 mg/m³ and 10 mg/m³, respectively.
This is also on top of the city’s current pollution improvement effort, which required steel mills to limit operations from July 20 to August 31.
