SHANGHAI, Apr. 24 (SMM) – Silicon metal plants in Fujian ceased production after electric price subsidy was canceled. A few of them that had completed maintenance delayed their restart plan after central environmental protection inspection team entered the region in late April, SMM understands.
These silicon plants mostly use high-sulfur coke, and are not allowed to restart because of strict sulfur emission requirements.
