China Lead-Acid Battery Stocks Post Declines in June, SMM Surveys

SHANGHAI, Jul. 18 (SMM) – Average battery inventory at 30 Chinese lead-acid battery makers was 24.77 days in June, falling 3.93 days from May, SMM survey shows.

The survey ample of 30 battery producers represents annual capacity of 201.86 million kvah and consumes 3.84 million tonnes of lead. Of the 30 battery makers, 17 are motive battery makers, 10 are ignition battery makers and 3 are backup battery producers.

At mid-year’s end, large producers ramped up output for year’s target in June, which boosted purchase by distributors. Also, with motive and automobile battery sectors in off-season, producers lowered operating rates again or prolonged holidays for workers to reduce inventories.
