Zambia’s Copper Output up 4% during Jan.-Apr. 2016

Zambia’s copper output in the first four months of this year grew 4% year-on-year or 8,000 tonnes, to 224,600 tonnes.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 1 (SMM) – Zambia’s copper output in the first four months of this year grew 4% year-on-year or 8,000 tonnes, to 224,600 tonnes due to higher output from three mines – Kalumbila, Kansanshi and Lumwana, according to Economic & Commercial Counsellor's Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Zambia.

Output from Kansanshi, Lumwana and Kalumbila mine was 77,400 tonnes, 46,400 tonnes and 37,400 tonnes, respectively.

Konkola produced 22,100 tonnes, Mopani yielded 14,800 tonnes and Luanshya produced 10,300 tonnes of copper during January-April this year.
