CHICAGO (Scrap Monster): Kane County has suspended its free electronics recycling program due to an influx of TV's with cathode ray tubes coming into the recycling collection events.
Overwhelming and unmanageable attendance occurred at the Kane County's April and May events in St. Charles.
According to a news release, the county's Recycling Extravaganza will still go on, but electronics will not be accepted.
That event will be held next Saturday, June 11th, at the branch court office at 540 South Randall Road in St. Charles.
In Kendall County, Solid Waste Coordinator Marlin Hartman said that there are ways to dispose of e-Waste, including old cathode ray tube televisions.
Hartman added that residents do have to prove residency to take part in these services.
Hartman said that he is continuing to work to make sure parts of unincorporated Kendall County have ways to dispose of their e-Waste as well.
