CAMPBELL RIVER (Scrap Monster): This year's winner of the Campbell River Hospital Foundation's scrap metal challenge was T-MAR Industries. They collected $5,000 worth of scrap metal and donated the proceeds to the foundation.
The grand total raised this year was just over $12,000. Over the last five years $70,000 has been raised. This year’s funds will go towards two new pieces of equipment for the emergency room.
A glidescope will secure a patient’s airway and is a critical piece of equipment, said Carly Pisterzi, communications director for the foundation. A portable ultrasound will enable physicians to gather accurate information quickly and make faster and more precise diagnoses.
The metal was collected by ABC Recycling, Marine Link Transport and Coastline Towing.
