Chinese secondary lead producers saw profits increase last week, SMM learnt.

SHANGHAI, Feb. 22 (SMM) – Chinese secondary lead producers saw profits increase last week, SMM learnt.

Mainstream prices for secondary lead were at 12,950-13,050 yuan per tonne (including tax) with average price at 13,000 yuan per tonne, up 85 yuan per tonne on a weekly basis.

Average price of scrap automobile batteries (white shell) and motive batteries stood at 6,800 yuan per tonne and 7,325 yuan per tonne respectively, a rise of 10 yuan per tonne week-on-week. This grew smelting costs by 15-17 yuan per tonne.

Few secondary lead smelters restarted operation in the first trading week after Chinese New Year holiday and transactions were also muted in market.
