Qualified Secondary Lead Producers Restart Operation in China

The majority of regular secondary lead producers resume operation currently in China while disqualified smelters are still out of operation.

SHANGHAI, Feb. 17 (SMM) – The majority of regular secondary lead producers resume operation currently in China while disqualified smelters are still out of operation.

Those qualified producers in operation, however, do not run full operation, such as Great China Metal Materials Co., Henan Jinpeng Lead Industry Co., Hubei Jinyang Metallurgy Co., and Hubei Chu Kay Metallurgy Co.

Secondary lead prices remain firmly at 11,850-12,000 yuan per tonne recently with overall transactions muted.

Disqualified smelters hold a wait-and-see posture and one smelter noted that most smelters planned operation restart after China's Lantern Festival due on February 22. Should lead prices continue falling, they will delay the restart.

Volkswagen’s Operating Profit Plunged 53% in 2025, With 2026 Still Looking Grim
[Volkswagen Group's 2025 Operating Profit Plunged 53%] Germany's Volkswagen Group announced on March 10 that group revenue in 2025 was 322 billion euros, almost stable compared with 324.7 billion euros in 2024; however, operating profit plunged 53% YoY from 2024 to 8.9 billion euros, mainly due to US tariff policies, exchange-rate fluctuations, and strategic adjustments at Porsche, one of its subsidiaries. Volkswagen Group said that, as US tariff issues and competitive pressure in China still persisted, it expected to continue facing a severe situation in 2026. Revenue this year was expected to edge up by 0% to 3%, with the operating margin at between 4% and 5.5%.
