The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels dropped significantly on Wednesday due to a big drop in capesize vessel rates.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels dropped significantly on Wednesday due to a big drop in capesize vessel rates.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, down by 74 points to 1,239 points on Wednesday.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
