SINGAPORE (Scrap Monster):The new progress found on the dye is based on the precursory researches which were done on the zinc dye by A – Star Institute of Materials Research and Engineering. The study was primarily done on zinc atoms, encircled by Porophyrin, a batch of heterocyclic macro cycle organic compound.

According to the demonstration conducted at the institute, on adding Perylene, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, to the zinc porophyrin dye it transmutes about 10.5% of infrared rays to electricity.  Optimized zinc porophyrin, which has the capability of converting 12.3% visible light in to electricity, if combined with former dye (perylene + zinc porophyrin) will give in to the discovery of new generation dye sensitized photovoltaic panels.

The next research of the institute will be based on the study to combine both visible and infrared assimilating technique in one unique cell, Jishan Wu, the head of researching team has said.
