Stronger supramaxes drive up main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels advanced to 755 points on Tuesday primarily supported by a stronger supramax segment.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels advanced to 755 points on Tuesday primarily supported by a stronger supramax segment.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, was up 2 points or 0.27 percent to 755 points.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
