“Steel” Homepage on Metal.com is relaunching its new version in Mid April.

SHANGHAI, April. 12 (SMM) – For the purpose of user friendly expansion, SMM/Steelease are pleasured to announce that “Steel” Homepage on Metal.com is relaunching its new version in Middle April 2013.

The upgrade “Steel” homepage will display the following new features:

“Iron Ore Top Stories” to highlight the hot lines happened in the last few days;

Nickel Prices to Remain Bullish this Week

Monetary policies in Europe and the United States are unlikely to tighten any time soon, and expectations over inflation continued to rise. The decline of commodity prices last week was mainly driven by reserves offered by the State Reserve Bureau. Nickel prices fell before rebounding in the wake of reserves injection by the SRB. Macroeconomic developments are expected to buoy nickel prices.

Nickel Prices to Remain Bullish this Week

Rare earth product prices basically strengthened last week

Prices of didymium oxide trended higher and saw big volatility last week. On Friday (July 16) morning, SMM prices of didymium oxide stood at 560,000-570,000 yuan/mt. As of the afternoon, traded prices stood at 580,000-590,000 yuan/mt. Several manufacturers quoted at 600,000 yuan/mt, and downstream buying interest was weak.

The price range of A00 aluminium narrowed in June, with its mainstream price range at 18,500-19,000 yuan/mt. Aluminium scrap prices fluctuated less than 400 yuan/mt. Aluminium scrap market saw weaker supply and demand in June.

SMM prices of Ni1.5% ore average stood at $73.5/wmt on a cif basis on July 9, unchanged from a week earlier. Nickel ore prices remained stable this week. Quotations remained high but the mainstream traded prices in the market remained at CIF $72-75/wmt.

The most-traded SHFE 2108 aluminium contract jumped above 19,000 yuan/mt to 19,350 yuan/mt at the beginning of last week, but erased gains in the following three days before stabilising on Friday July 9 and closing the week at 18,875 yuan/mt, a drop of 5 yuan/mt or 0.03%.

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reported that crude steel output across major mills in China averaged 2.27 million mt per day in the first ten days of April, up 2.88% from late March and up 16.86% from the same period a year ago.
