Russia Doubles Nickel Export Duty to 10%

MOSCOW, Nov. 22 -- Russia's raw nickel export duty has been doubled to 10% from the previous 5%, the government press service announced Friday.

The government decree introducing the change was signed Nov. 12, and the export duty will come into effect one month after the official announcement.

The new export duty applies to the three countries members of the customs union, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The most-traded SHFE 2204 aluminium contract opened overnight session at 21,800 yuan/mt, with the lowest and highest prices at 21,655 yuan/mt and 21,885 yuan/mt before closing at 21,730 yuan/mt, down 175 yuan/mt and up 0.8% than Monday.
