SMM Morning Review - 2010/9/1 Zinc Market

SHANGHAI, Sept. 1 (SMM) -- LME zinc prices opened slightly higher at USD 2,110/mt yesterday. The US dollar strengthened to 83.342 during the Asian trading period, dragging down LME zinc prices to USD 2,059/mt. The US consumer confidence index released last night rose to 53.5, stronger than previous prediction of 51.0. This news boosted the US stocks and base metals prices, with Dow Jones Industrial Average soaring to 10,073.32 points and base metals prices reversing previous losses. In response, LME zinc prices rose to USD 2,110/mt, and finally closed at USD 2,075/mt, down USD 10/mt.
