BEIJING, July 15 -- China's electricity generation in June rose 11.4% on year to 346.7 billion kilowatt-hours, the National Bureau of Statistics said Thursday.
Electricity produced by coal-fired power plants rose 8.6% to 261.66 billion kWh in June, while hydroelectricity generation was up 18.5% at 70.38 billion kWh and nuclear power generation was down 2.3% at 5.1 billion kWh.
That brought power output in the first half of this year to 1.97 trillion kWh, up 19.3% on year.
China produced 33.66 million metric tons of coke in June, up 6.4% on year, while coke output for the first six months of this year totaled 192.87 million tons, up 21.4%.
The National Bureau of Statistics didn't issue coal output data for June.
