SHANGHAI, Feb. 1 (SMM) --
According to the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA), China's alumina output was 2.43 million mt in December, up 50.62% YoY. The large increase was due to low output levels in 2008 during the global financial crisis. Output was also up 2.86% MoM, since limited maintenance was reported during December.
According to CNIA, China's output of aluminum was 1.33 million mt in December 2009, up only 0.30% MoM. Total aluminum output in 2009 was 12.85 million mt, down 2.51% YoY.
