On February 11, 2025, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) voted to initiate a Section 337 investigation into certain photovoltaic trunk bus cable assemblies and their components (Investigation Code: 337-TA-1438).

On January 10, 2025, Shoals Technologies Group, LLC of Portland, Tennessee, filed a Section 337 complaint with the US ITC, alleging that the import, export, and sale of these products in the US violate US Section 337 (infringing US registered patents No. 12,015,375 and 12,015,376). Shoals requested that the ITC issue a limited exclusion order and a cease-and-desist order.

The listed defendants include Voltage, LLC, Chapel Hill, N.C., and Ningbo Voltage Smart Production Co. The US ITC will determine the conclusion date of the investigation within 45 days of filing. Unless overridden by the US Trade Representative for policy reasons, the relief orders issued in Section 337 cases by the ITC will take effect on the date of issuance and become final 60 days after the publication of the order.
