[MIIT Seeks Public Opinions: Exploring Hydrogen Production Using Renewable Energy in Regions Rich in Renewable Energy Resources Such as Deserts, Gobi, and Wilderness with Low Local Consumption Capacity] SMM has learned that on January 6, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) publicly solicited opinions on the Action Plan for High-Quality Development of the New Energy Storage Manufacturing Industry (Draft for Solicitation of Opinions). The plan actively encourages the rational allocation of new energy storage for thermal power plants and explores multi-scenario applications of new energy storage in peak shaving, frequency modulation, and other operations. It aims to expand new energy application scenarios such as wind, solar, energy storage, and hydrogen, create a green electricity-green hydrogen-green ammonia/green alcohol industrial chain, and promote efficient multi-energy complementarity and utilization. For regions rich in renewable energy resources such as deserts, gobi, and wilderness with low local consumption capacity, the plan explores the utilization of renewable energy for hydrogen production. The plan also accelerates the promotion of shared energy storage to enhance the auxiliary service capacity of energy storage for power systems. It strives to expedite the promotion of alternative energy storage in land-scarce or remote areas, strengthen the construction of facilities and equipment such as substations and emergency power supplies, and enhance grid security capabilities.
