【SMM Analysis】Recently, Sungrow and Spearmint Energy announced the signing of a cooperation agreement for a battery energy storage system (BESS) exceeding 1GWh. According to the agreement, Sungrow will provide its advanced PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage solution for Spearmint Energy's energy storage project in Texas, with the deployment phase expected to extend through 2025.

Recently, Sungrow and Spearmint Energy announced the signing of a cooperation agreement for a battery energy storage system (BESS) exceeding 1GWh. According to the agreement, Sungrow will provide its advanced PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage solution for Spearmint Energy's energy storage project in Texas, with the deployment phase expected to extend through 2025.

As a global leader in photovoltaic inverters and energy storage system solutions, as of December 2023, Sungrow had installed a cumulative total of 515GW in power conversion systems, providing power support across 170 countries and regions with its innovative technology and high-quality products. Spearmint Energy is a company dedicated to driving the clean energy revolution through BESS, focused on mitigating grid volatility and bolstering system resilience.

With a growing demand for clean and reliable energy, there is an increasing demand for stable and controllable energy sources, especially in energy-intensive states like Texas. Texas ranks second in the United States for its grid-scale battery energy storage asset base, after California. Spearmint Energy is currently operating a 150MW/300MWh BESS project in West Texas and has a pipeline of over 20 projects under development in more than 10 states across the U.S., with a combined capacity exceeding 10GWh.

PowerTitan 2.0 is a new large-scale energy storage system launched by Sungrow in October 2023, featuring 314Ah cells and characterized by an easily scalable design and advanced fire suppression capabilities, including sophisticated liquid cooling technology. It is suitable for use in harsh environments such as high-humidity areas, dusty deserts, or high-altitude regions. Previously, Sungrow successfully signed a 7.8GWh super energy storage order with Saudi AlGihaz, which will also utilize the PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage system, with deliveries scheduled to commence in 2024 and full capacity grid-connected operation by 2025.

This cooperation is a significant milestone for both parties. For Sungrow, it not only deepens the partnership with Spearmint Energy but also further consolidates its leadership position in the global energy storage market. For Spearmint Energy, by leveraging Sungrow's advanced technology, it can more rapidly deploy new energy storage capacity to meet Texas's growing demand for reliable, low-cost energy, while also creating job opportunities and increasing tax revenue for local communities.
