SHANGHAI, Feb 6 (SMM) - According to SMM research, secondary silicon production in January was 18,800 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 13.0% and a year-on-year increase of 33.3%.
The production of secondary silicon dropped significantly month-on-month in January, mainly due to the following two factors. First, with the Chinese New Year holiday coming, some secondary silicon manufacturers stopped working for the holidays in mid-to-late January, resulting in fewer actual production days in January and a decrease in output. According to SMM, most secondary silicon plants will resume production around February 13. Second, at the end of last year, a small number of manufacturers suspended production due to environmental protection, maintenance and other reasons. Production continued to stagnate in January. These secondary silicon plants will resume production depending on the situation. In February, due to the Chinese New Year holiday at the beginning of the month, most secondary silicon production companies suspended production and gradually will resume production in the middle of the month. It is expected that February output will increase slightly month-on-month.
