Brazilian Environment Agency: Vale Seeks Permission to Expand Its Mines in Brazil

Vale is seeking permission to the expansion of its two iron ore mines in southeastern Brazil.

SHANGHAI, Feb 15 - Vale is seeking permission to the expansion of its two iron ore mines in southeastern Brazil. As the world’s second-largest iron ore producer, Vale is recovering from the tailings dam accident three years ago. According to the local environmental protection department, Vale has submitted an application to expand the Ca pao Xavier and Mar Azul mines in Minas Geras. It has also requested permission to conduct further exploration to drill at both sites.
