On the afternoon of December 11, 2021, the "Seminar on Aluminum Application in Air-conditioning Industry" jointly organized by China Household Electrical Appliances Research Institute and the Cryogenic Biology Committee of small refrigerators of China Refrigeration Society was held in Qingdao. GE Fengliang, vice president of China Home Appliances Research Institute, Xu Hong, chief engineer of China Home Appliances Research Institute, Professor Huang Dong of Xi'an Jiaotong University and other leaders, guests and representatives of major air conditioning enterprises and parts enterprises attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Song Liqiang, director of the Design Research and Evaluation Center of China Home Appliances Research Institute.

GE Fengliang, vice president of the China Home Appliances Research Institute, said in his speech that in recent years, the proposal of dual-carbon targets, the inclusion of hydrofluorocarbons under control, and the rising prices of copper and other bulk raw materials have put forward higher requirements for the air conditioning industry in terms of environmental protection, energy saving, efficiency and so on. In order to better complete the national strategic goals and plans, to better promote the healthy and steady development of the industry, and to better let consumers experience high-quality household appliances and services, it is a timely time to carry out aluminum application research in the air-conditioning industry.

At this meeting, the working group on "Aluminum Application Research in Air-conditioning Industry" was formally established. The working group is led by China Household Electrical Appliances Research Institute and jointly established by air conditioning enterprises and upstream and downstream production enterprises. Gree, Midea, Haier, Hisense, TCL, Ox, Daijin, Panasonic and other domestic mainstream air-conditioning enterprises, as well as Sanhua, Jiangsu Kelingku and other parts enterprises became the first batch of working group members.

At the meeting, the working group hired Professor Huang Dong as the chief expert on aluminum application research in the air-conditioning industry. Professor Huang Dong introduced the technical route of high-efficiency and high-corrosion-resistant all-aluminum heat exchanger, comprehensively introduced the corrosion resistance, heat transfer, structure and welding technology of aluminum heat exchanger, and affirmed the application of aluminum heat exchanger in air-conditioning industry. the technical route of high efficiency and high corrosion resistance all-aluminum heat exchanger is put forward, which puts forward the research direction for the follow-up research work of the working group.

Cao Xiexin, director of the material Analysis Department of China Home Appliances Research Institute, mainly gave a speech on the impact of the "double carbon" strategy on the home appliance and air-conditioning industry, as well as the work that has been carried out and will be carried out. He said that although the carbon footprint after the application of aluminum has increased somewhat in the manufacturing process, considering that most of the carbon emissions of air conditioners are in use, as long as we optimize the design and improve the level of energy efficiency, carbon emissions can be greatly reduced throughout the life cycle.

Zhao Yang, engineer of the Refrigeration and Air conditioning testing Center of China Household Electrical Appliances Research Institute, gave a lecture on "discussion on reliability testing technology of aluminum heat exchangers" and introduced in detail the reliability testing methods and performance testing methods of aluminum heat exchangers. It provides technical support for the testing of aluminum heat exchangers. At the same time, he also said that he should start to formulate relevant standards as soon as possible, upgrade and improve the salt spray test, performance testing, reliability testing and other devices suitable for aluminum heat exchangers.

Subsequently, the working group discussed the research on the application of aluminum in air conditioning, and mainly expressed its views on the technical framework of aluminum heat exchanger with high heat transfer efficiency and high reliability. Participants believed that the application of aluminum is a systematic problem, and more parts and materials production enterprises should join in and constantly improve the matching of aluminum parts. In addition, we must keep the bottom line, raise standards, and do a good job in guiding consumption, so that consumers can correctly understand the significance of using aluminum materials.

Xu Hong, chief engineer of the China Institute of Household Electrical Appliances, summed up everyone's discussion and believed that the convening of this meeting had a broad foundation, and the working group should promote it in a timely manner. We will continue to work on the feasibility study, application research, quality verification, preparation and revision of relevant standards and consumption guidance for aluminum application in the air-conditioning industry, and actively promote the research on key technologies in the air-conditioning industry. Further optimize the industrial chain supply chain and contribute to the healthy development of the industry.

Finally, Song Liqiang, director of the Design Research and Evaluation Center of China Home Appliances Research Institute, read out the proposal on promoting the Application Research of Air-conditioning Aluminum on behalf of the working group. The working group put forward three proposals: the first is to actively carry out technical research on the application of aluminum in air-conditioning products to improve the safety of the industrial chain; the second is to actively adopt climate-friendly refrigerants and minimize the use of refrigerants to support China's implementation of the Kigali Amendment; and the third is to continue to promote the development of air-conditioning energy-saving technology to help China achieve its goals of reducing energy intensity and controlling total energy consumption.
