SMM: Tesla (Tesla), Uber (Uber) and some large U.S. utilities announced on Tuesday that they will set up a new lobby group to promote the introduction of a national policy on electric vehicle sales.

The new group is called the Zero Emission Transportation Association ((Zero Emission Transportation Association),). They want the U. S. government to increase incentives for consumers to buy electric cars and encourage the elimination of fuel vehicles.

The Zero Emission Transportation Association's goal is that every car sold in the United States is an electric car and will be achieved within the next 10 years. They hope to achieve 100% of electric car sales in the United States by 2030, that is, full electrification.

The group proposes five policies aimed at stimulating sales of electric vehicles in the United States over the next decade, including incentives for consumers to buy electric vehicles, stringent emission standards, improving infrastructure to support the construction of charging stations and other electric vehicle necessities, a focus on domestic production, and federal support for industry research and development.

In terms of consumer incentives, the Zero Emission Transportation Association may lobby the government to extend or expand the existing $7500 tax credit for electric vehicle purchases. The plan began under President Obama in 2009. But incumbent President Donald Trump has proposed abolishing the tax credit, which companies, including Tesla and General Motors, have been trying to maintain.

Fortunately, the agenda proposed by newly elected President Joe Biden is highly consistent with the goals of the Zero Emission Transportation Association. He promised new tax breaks and a big increase in charging stations for electric vehicles, and plans to create 1 million new jobs in the US auto industry, expand zero-emission public transport infrastructure and build a carbon-free electricity sector by 2035.

The lobby is supported by 28 companies, including Tesla and Uber, and other members include energy companies such as Edison (ConEdison), Duke Energy and PG&E, electric car charging companies such as Chargepoint and EVgo, and electric vehicle start-ups such as Lordstown Motors, Rivian and Lucid Motors. It also includes Albemarle, the world's largest lithium maker for electric vehicle batteries, lithium companies Piedmont Lithium and Siemens.

In 2019, US carmakers sold 326000 electric vehicles, accounting for about 2 per cent of total US car sales, nearly 60 per cent of which came from Tesla.

California is the largest car market in the United States, accounting for about 11% of total car sales in the United States. In September, California Governor Gavin Newsom (Gavin Newsom) said the state planned to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered passenger cars and trucks from 2035, a major move aimed at switching to electric vehicles and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
