SMM News: a few days ago, Changan Ford announced the latest sales figures. In august 2020, the company's retail sales reached 16623 vehicles (excluding the Lincoln brand), up 10.2% from a month earlier, but down from 21409 in the same period in 2019. In order to enhance the vitality of dealers in a complex market environment, Changan Ford has previously formulated a fixed production strategy based on sales, which is more obvious in the sales data. Changan Ford wholesale sales reached 15416 vehicles in August. Inventory has declined further.

In terms of products, the newly listed explorer's retail sales reached 2544 in August, with a cumulative sales of 5403 so far. In addition, Changan Ford did not announce the sales performance of other models, but according to previously released data, the company's highest-selling model from January to July 2020 was Forrest (parameter | inquiry), which reached 20048, down 36.6% from the same period last year. Ruiji has become the company's second best-selling model, with a total of 19441 vehicles sold, while Fox's cumulative sales reached 17601, down 13% from the same period last year.

In the new car offensive, the soldered body-in-white of the domestic Fox travel version was taken off the line at Changan Ford's Chongqing No.2 plant in June. The length, width and height of the car are 4678, 1841 and 1555mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2705mm. According to previously released information, the car will be officially launched in 2020. Although the future of the domestic station wagon market is not clear, the launch of this car can at least strengthen the overall market performance of the Fox series and help it achieve positive growth compared with the same period last year.

In terms of electrification, Ford's first pure electric model, the Mustang Mach-E, developed for the global market, has arrived in China and is expected to make its domestic debut at the Beijing Auto Show. The car has a length, width and height of 4724ax 1880xxx 1600mm and a wheelbase of 2972mm. It is based on Ford's new all-electric platform and has a range of up to 592km under WLTP conditions. It is reported that the car is expected to be launched domestically by Changan Ford in 2021.

Editor's comments:

Although sales of some models are still in decline, Changan Ford made two significant improvements in the first eight months of 2020. First, the company's cumulative sales growth in 2020 has been positive compared with the same period last year; second, at the Chengdu auto show, Changan Ford revealed to Auto House that the vast majority of its dealers can make a profit by selling cars alone. Under the influence of the epidemic, few enterprises have been able to achieve these two points at the same time. It seems that Changan Ford, which was once confused, has gained a firm foothold and began to fight back. It's just that I don't know how long it will take for the company to return to the "golden age" of annual sales of 958000 vehicles.
