SHANGHAI, Jun 28 (SMM) – The government of Fengrun district of Tangshan, China’s top steelmaking hub, has urged local steel companies to tighten production controls between 12:00 CST June 27 and 24:00 CST June 30, in the face of unfavourable weather conditions for dispersing air pollutants.
Tianzhu Iron & Steel and Xinbaotai Iron & Steel have been required to halt production of their sintering machines and cut the emission of blast furnaces as much as possible during June 27-30. Production at independent steel rolling mills, casting enterprises, lime kilns, grinding mills, mixing plants and cement mills should all suspend during the period.
SMM learned that independent steel rolling mills in the Fengrun district have implemented production restriction measures after receiving the notice. Full suspension of those mills may impact the daily output of section steel by 61,200 mt, up 54,700 mt from the affected volumes under regular anti-smog production curbs for June, SMM assessed.
