SHANGHAI, May 8 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal in China were roughly unchanged week on week as of May 8, while the inventory change in different areas diverged.
SMM data showed that the stocks of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city and Tianjin port stood at 45,000 mt as of May 8, flat from a week ago.
Stockpiles at silicon producers continued to be shipped to ports and consumption areas during the past Labour Day holidays, before the nationwide highway tolls resumed on May 6, as traders managed to control shipment costs. SMM expects social inventories of silicon metal to hold stable in the near term.
