SHANGHAI, Apr 30 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal in China fell sharply this week, as traders stepped up deliveries to their clients before the restoration of highway toll fees on May 6.
Inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city and Tianjin port fell 8,000 mt from last Friday April 24 to 45,000 mt as of Thursday April 30, showed SMM data.
Fewer arrivals also contributed to the significant inventory declines at the two ports this week.
The stocks are expected to edge higher after the Labour Day holiday, as producers in Xinjiang will resume their shipments to ports.
